Spring Plowing Starts on Upton Farm

Spring plowing has started on the Upton Farm fields. Hopefully, the biggest vehicle we will ever see on these fields will be a tractor like this one, not a bulldozer gouging earth to make room for yet another unimaginative subdivision.

The thought of houses being placed on this magnificent piece of land, when there are over 200 already serviced lots available for development in West Royalty alone,  brings the words of songwriter Malivina Reynolds’ song “Little Boxes” to mind:

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky-tacky,
Little boxes, little boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
There’s a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they’re all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

How would YOU like this wonderful view of the North River blocked by the sight of “little boxes, all the same?”
