Editor: When we turn on TV, pick up a magazine, go online or read a newspaper, we are reminded of obesity, weight loss, heart health, high cholesterol etc. We are told walking is beneficial. We vow to get motivated, to get out and walk either indoors or outdoors. Many folks, me included, find the most enjoyable walking is with a dog. Many dogs need homes and people to love and many people need a reason to get going.Since Charlottetown is rapidly developing, and tending not to add green space, or sidewalks, it is becoming more difficult to walk in safety.Pleasantly, we have discovered Upton Park in West Royalty (almost in the middle of Charlottetown).
Upton Park is a wonderful space for walkers of every age group, folks with disabilities, parents and kids and dog walkers. There are paved areas, hills, woodlands, open fields and a beautiful view of the North River.
I know that February is Heart Month. So, if you are looking for a different place to walk, try Upton Park.
It will do your heart good.
