Group urges council to preserve
Upton Farm as natural area

A group of citizens opposed to the development of Upton Farm told Charlottetown city council it had an opportunity to demonstrate vision and make the land its own Victoria Park.

Five members of the Upton Farm Preservation Network spoke in a private meeting with council Wednesday afternoon to put forward their position that the land be preserved as a natural area.

Network member Kirsten Connor said the group felt council was interested and that their presentation was well received.

“The main message was to tell them what we had done so far and why we had done it and that our goal is to see that land left green for future generations,” she said. “We impressed upon them that we have to have vision just like the people who created Victoria Park had vision.”
